Do you remember when you were a little kid and you had to pick one single gift for Christmas? And you better be good, otherwise you may get a lump of coal in your stocking.
As we grew older our desired gifts became more sophisticated - electronics, tech gadgets, brand clothing, etc. Unfortunately we hardly get satisfaction from the desired object. The newness eventually wears off and we are in the search for the next new thing we want to own. We are hypnotically lured and brain washed by the masterfully crafted ads on the TV. And following the flow of the Christmas madness for shopping gifts, we continue to feed ourselves materialistic addictions. Christmas has been over exploited season after season.
However the most meaningful gifts cannot fit in a stocking, but must be received in our hearts
Lots of times we are lost in the clutter of shopping, spending, making exhausting preparations, and build stacks of gifts that often end up not used or forgotten in the closet. Instead, give a gift to charity in someone's name - then you know your money is actually paying for something useful. There are so many choices of organizations that will be happy to receive your precious gifts. This year I am planning to visit an elderly home for special care and deliver some goodies to lonely and ill people.
What is your choice for donating a happy moment to somebody in need this year?
May the peace and blessings of Christmas be yours!
