Many times we rigorously use social media to launch a new product, promote our services and when we get what we want, we stop being so active on our channels. We see our customers buying our products, follow us on Twitter, like out images on Instagram, share our posts on Facebook. But in the minute you stop updating your social media channels, your audience will decline as quickly as it grew.
The key to maintaining an audience on and off social media is to regularly meet your followers where they are.
Here are 3 techniques to build brand loyalty through social media
1. Get to know your target marketI know, you've read this so many times that you are sick of it. But here me out here. Sometimes even a reminder can make a miracle.
When writing your content envision fictional personas of your target market. Identify their passions, wants, desires, needs and problems. Follower the influencers in your target market. What brands they like? What posts do they write?
Sum up your brand's unique story in just one sentence. What is it that differentiate you in such way that nobody from the competition can claim?
2. Have a mutual relationship with your target marketHow many times you've created freebie that you thought your audience will grab like a "hot bread" and it turns out there is zero interest of your offer. Make sure that your offer is what they want and need, not what you assume they want. Here are some ideas: A product or a service giveaway (free 45min 1:1 coaching session, for example), e-book download, an announcement about an exclusive event just for your audience, etc. And don’t forget the 80/20 rule - 80% engagement and 20% promotion.
3. Be presentBrand loyalty is based on trust. People will not follow you and trust you if they rarely see you. Be consistent and transparent in your presence. I know from a personal experience, that is not an easy task. But if you decided to have your own business, that is the way to be found and for you to find your ideal customers. Giving the excuse that you are shy or an introvert no longer works. Your followers will expect you to be consistent, so they will continue to follow you and share your content.
Small gestures of appreciation are important way to reinforce the connection with your audience. A one-to-one "thanks', for example, can earn you an abundance of goodwill.
Social media has made it more important than ever to value your audience and to make it enjoyable for them to interact with you.
I want to take advantage of this post and thank all of you here for having me in this wonderful supportive community.
